This Harvard Macy Institute course supports health care professionals as they adapt new technologies and approaches into the learning environment for pre-clinical, clinical and post-graduate learners. The program integrates the science of education with hands-on experience to support the transformation of teaching through the creation of effective synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences and environments. Facilitated by education leaders with expertise in using technology for teaching and learning, this program will incorporate large and small group sessions with hands-on experiences, consultation to facilitate the development of your personal teaching projects, and opportunities for practice utilizing new technologies. 

Over the span of eight weeks, learners will focus on: 
  • Designing impactful and effective learning experiences  
  • Integration and application of generative AI 
  • Inclusive learning environments and universal design  
  • Facilitating active learning through technology  
  • Innovative content creation, project management, video editing, infographics, digital scholarship 
  • Microteaching with AI and technology  
  • Digital identity, networking, global connectivism and community building  
  • Synthesis, integration and AI / technology toolbox

Week 3: Designing Learning Experiences to Facilitate Social and Cognitive Engagement

Week 5: Creating Your Own Online Content 
Week 6: Micro-teaching with Technology 
Week 7: Digital Identity, Social Networking, & Online Communities 
Week 8: AI in Health Professions Education

The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification. We would also suggest that learners check with their state licensing board to ensure they accept reciprocity with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for re-licensure. 
 
Canadian Accreditation 
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada recognizes conferences and workshops held outside of Canada that are developed by a university, academy, hospital, specialty society or college as accredited group learning activities. 
 
European Accreditation
